MPC Software compatibility with old projects...

forgive me if im in the wrong place, mods feel free to move.


Just curious, will there ever be, or is there fixes in the works that allows the legacy projects to be opened in the new MPC software? I read this article a bit back (great read btw) and was just wondering, how long?

I'm not sure about some of you, but i save beats on to a CF card, as i'm a bit of a scrooge, i have about 6 cards, couple for samples, couple for beats.
When my beat card fills up, i transfer to PC via the USB and re-format the card, and carry on. flowers buying new cards for beats.

Problem is, if i have a customer or client that wants an older beat, and its on the PC, i cannot just load beats to check what it is, i have to load up beat files, and load in MPC just to hear them (yeah i know i can easily just play the stems in the folder on the PC but sometimes you might flip or use the same sample and need to have the other version, so playing samples isn't always a great help)


Was just dreaming, but wouldn't it be nice to just open those projects up quickly in the PC, play them, make some small edits and re-export?!



I read also that the new MPC sorftware only works with the Hardware, im just hoping its not a painfull and slow transition out like PT with the ending of their hardware reliant software.......

Anyway, just some ideas, thoughts, wishes..........ah

I wrote that article a while back for 1.2, and forgot haven't had the time to update it for 1.31, let alone the upcoming 1.4. On the to-do list - I have a 4000 myself now, so will give it a hammering

Generally speaking if you have a 'numark' MPC, you'll be fine, just accept that effect settings are not carried over and some parameters will need tweaking. Older MPCs vary, but expect to put some work in.

I suspect it's never going to be perfect because some things have no backwards or forwards translation.

Anyone know it the ren supports MPC 60 files?

You don't know if Akai will release the software so it can be purchased by itself without buying one of the new controllers do you?

Given that the software won't even produce sound without the controller connected I wouldn't hold my breath. I would honestly bet hard cash it's a never. Do I think they should consider it? Absolutely.

you think they would maybe consider the amount of existing MPC users who could really benefit from the software..... number of users x cost of product = profit ?

I wonder if its something a third party operator will run with?
