MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I've owned my MPC5000 for a while now and have experienced the crashing and other bugs. I recently also have a problem, however, where my MPC won't boot when I turn it on. I just get the lighted blue screen, but nothing happens. I tried hitting the Erase button while turning it on, but that didn't work. Last time this happened, a couple of months ago, I took it in to get looked at. IT took the repair place about a month to get to it, but when they didn't it acted fine and has been until last, when it just won't boot. Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions? Thanks.

hmmm... I wonder..

look around the forum for info on an mpc3500 that wont boot. Maybe someone took the insides of it and swapped it with a working 5000?

I know this is a silly question, but I'll ask just to be sure. Have you tried turning up the contrast knob?

Does it automatically reboot after booting or after a few minutes/hours of runtime?
If so, your PSU is wasted. It is fairly easy to replace the PSU.

Don't know if this is your situation, but make sure there are no random "files" saved in the hard drive section. Apparently they must be folders like the drum kits, projects, etc. or you will get errors. My 5000 would not start after someone saved their files after using the built in multi track recorder. Said files were saved in the wrong area.

Plug the USB to PC and look at the hard drive.
