ok. enough of vaimana and vailixi for now...

let us know the details of what you are offering us. from where? :hmmm:

ive never heard of WM Softwares.

i was interested in the elusive and mysterious vaimana for my 60. maybe the Elixir is a better and more available route to go with my 60s OS.

i would like to know more. as would most here...

thanks for the direct responses. :smoker:

I don't know if it's better , all I can tell ils the Elixir is very stable and improves the workfow.

Yeah same here, no one wants to beef with you. But if you are talking about being a week away from a release, I would think you would at least have a web page, even in a "coming soon" state.

If you can modify/recompile/write from the ground up, an OS, a webpage should be pretty easy and certainly in your best interest.

Presumably there needs to be a manual to go along with it? If it's just a few extra quantizes then maybe it doesn't need one, but is that really worth 100 Euros?

Why?

I already have a job and as I told it before, I don't have to time & don't want to risk money in investment on a company and see copies on ebay next mounth.

I am wary of these ebay copiers.

No website, that's not my intention, too much work. I don't have time for it.

Thanks Fobedafied

Hi Coz ,

Each person have its own opinion.

- Time correct : 1/128 , 1/192 and 1/384 when timing correct is OFF

- 1/4, 1/4TRPLT, 1/64, 1/64TRPLT timing correct

- Swing function works for any time correct

- Samples can be edited / processed while the sequencer plays or records

- TRUNC SFT ST & END function

- COPY ZONE / SND function

- PROGRAM LOAD : clear entire sound memory before loading new PGM, SND or SET files.

What would be the good price for you?

That depends on the provenance, which is what we're struggling to get to the bottom of.

Is the "10%" you've added onto Roger Linn's code really worth 100 Euros? What support do you offer if people start uncovering show stopping bugs? Has this OS even been thoroughly beta tested?

The time you've put into it has no relevance to the price. The 'finished' product has no manual, no website, no videos, no known users, and no support. That's not an attractive proposition for a potential buyer.

Like I mentioned before, fire it over to Clint so he can verify what you're saying. If everything stacks up you could work out a way of selling it as one complete batch so you get a nice payday for the work you've put in.

You've put a lot of time into this, so it's worth sticking in there and taking the advice people are giving you. The current approach is clearly not working, and this forum is basically the bulk of your potential customers.

Coz is giving very good advice. People will buy the software if they see the value in it - the number of hours you put in yourself is irrelevant unfortunately. I put in similar hours to some of my larger books, and they only sell for €30 each :)

As you have appeared out of nowhere, with no web site and no independent reviews, you will definitely benefit from providing review copies to a couple of MPC60 power users here, such as Clint - if they say it's good, then people here will buy it. You also need to get more beta testers on board, having a single tester is not ideal. It is also highly unlikely that there will be no bugs, no matter how much work was put into it.

However the problem is that if/when the bugs do appear, people need assurance that the bugs will be fixed. Currently you are not assuring that, so it will make people weary of paying.

I think if you are not willing to provide support nor continued bug fixing or further development, you should definitely consider the opportunity of selling your code to that third party for €x000. I may also be able to put the word out to some other developers who may be interested in taking it on, or perhaps working in partnership with you.

EDIT - as someone mentioned to me via PM, you should also contact Roger Linn to ensure there's no copyright issues involved - I'm sure anyone buying the code from you will ultimately want that assurance as well.

ebay copiers? you think people are just going to see your auction and start developing an operating system? you think people are gonna see that you made a new OS for a piece of gear from the 80's and try to steal your idea?? that's nonsense... that's about as likely as someone on eBay deciding to develop a game for the Atari 2600... besides, you aren't the first person to come up with a 3rd party OS.

no one ever sold pirated copies of Valixi... and you're entering the game after him.

everyone asking questions here is a potential customer. pull your head out of the clouds and get it together, man.

It would appear that the overall strategy for marketing, selling and maintaining this OS has not received the attention it perhaps deserves. Clearly this is not a legitimate business venture and I can understand why Wolfgang may be reluctant to go that route. Wolfgang really needs to decide how he can best proceed with this; becoming the subject of a frenzied Q&A is more likely to result in the project being mothballed, which is in nobody's best interests.

We all know what happened with Vailixi on eBay, and without legal protection there is a real risk that the same people will try to do the same with this. So for me the main issue is how can Wolfgang gain a fair financial reward for his development of Elixir, and is this OS going to be supported, or abandonware? Maybe a third-party would like to take this on or form a partnership with WMS as MPC-Tutor mentioned? Is the sale of this OS even legal? We don't know, yet. Does it matter? Thats a question of ethics, and whether this OS is sold for commercial gain or a strictly 'private undertaking'.

So by all means, ask questions politely, but please don't let this thread disintergrate into an episode of offensive comments and personal insults. All the questions will be answered eventually, nobody is under any obligation to buy anything. I do understand the level of interest in this OS, but try to dig deep within yourself and cut Wolfgang some slack. He may not be businessman of the year, but he is essentially just trying to help MPC60 users with what would be the first available OS upgrade since 3.10 in 1996/7.

Chill out, and if you don't have anything constructive to add to this thread, pull up a seat and grab some popcorn. We don't want Wolfgang to do a runner and we don't want this thread locked down.

Hi there,
I have just 2 question:

Did you have to take out/exclude some function out of 3.10e OS to squeeze in new feat?
If yes, what function?

Thank you
