Nice job scoring the nine fifty for £40

Three S950's for £100 two with max memory is my best deal on racks ever, almost turned it down until Jazzcat said it was worth a punt! And it was, they were on gumtree for weeks and nobody copped them. The seller just wanted them gone, something about his rent being due...

Back on topic.

An internal SCSI connection is possible but there's no room for a Hard Disk in the s950.

Plus, the IB109 is able to store around 64Mb in a 100Mb zip disk or another SCSI device.

In my opinion , it's better to use external SCSI device.

There is plenty of space for an internal conversion in the 950.

An internal port would be the only reason I would want a scsi card

Sorry, it's too late , design have been done.

I used to think that.
But:
I use my S950 in many different ways and one of those ways is to do a lot of shaping of my samples once they are inside the machine. I do a lot of splicing sounds on top of each other, pitching sounds down, resampling and much VCF usage. Having the option to sample at 48000 before mangling my sound internally in the S950 is a good thing. Another sound possibility; either sample hot through the analogue in, sample clean or sample into the digital in. I sample at different rates already, depending on how much top end or mid bump I require. The digital in would just add to the creative possibilities.

But I aint going to pay £150 for the privilege of finding out, lol!
I'm very happy to use my S950 as is until I find a digital in for cheap so I can experiment.

Can you pm me details of sale and availability please ?

For the moment , the IB105 Mk2 is ready.

My opinion is the IB105 Mk2 is better than the IB109 because it's compatible with a SD card reader.

The IB109 is compatible with SCSI devices like Syquest or Zip drive. I can store around 60Mb in a 100Mb zip disk and we all know that the zip drive is very "fragile" device and will become rare in the next years.

SD card is not expensive and is avalaible anywhere.

Sooner or later you need to commit to a price. Only then will people know if this really is a viable option.

This was spotted on eBay by eagle eyes, albeit with an original IB105 expansion. So with your version (without digital input) it will be interesting to see where it lands in the price spectrum. A lot of people are content to use floppies, and have been for years...

My opinion is it's a non-sense to have a digital input in a 16 bit non linear / monophonic sampler at the 24bit (7+1) era.

16 bit non-linear resolution means :

- AD converter : 16Bit

- Data storage (internal memory) : 12Bit

- DA converter : 16Bit

If you convert 24 bit samples to 16 bit inside your computer , the audio quality is degraded.

After that if you sample what you have degraded via a "prehistorical" digital input in a 16 bit non linear format and MONOphonic sampler , I agree with you , me too I'm not ready to spend £150 for the privilege ... of making this type of experience"

But, I'm happy to tell the IB105 Mk2 is not for this type of "experience" , your question justify why no digital input.

It's a data storage facility only.

Is your SD card reader the same as in the photo I posted, and is it 100% compatible/tested with the original Akai IB-105 expansion?

What is the cost of just the SD card reader if purchased seperately, assuming the P+P+P (postage/packing/paypal) is less for less hardware? Is an SD card included?

Yes, it's 200% compatible with the original IB105.
SD card is not included.
You have to purchase your own SD card 2Gb & 4Gb works perfectly. Like I said before SD Cards are inexpensive.

If SD card reader is for using with original IB105 , you need an extra 19 pin cable that I must build. 19 pin connector is hard to find & expensive + I need 1 hour to build it so the cable price is 25€.

SD card reader : 149€

Cable 25€

P+P+P : 15€

Well I don't see any charge for a 19 pin cable here??? Is it included in this package or not??

I would assume the cable should be included with the card reader if you cant use the card reader without it. You need to look at your pricing, seems like you're making it up on the fly. I'm only interested in the SD to replace the noisy old Atari HD, so my questions are legitimate. And what about the 19 pin cable I already have attached to the Atari HD, is that no good for the SD reader??

Think about all the permutations, and then post the prices and requirements accordingly. People here are knowledgeable and well-informed enough to know when something isn't quite adding up.

More photos of everything that is included will avoid more questions, its still a bit vague really. Youre either selling a package with the IB105 card, or without the card. Adding extra for the cable is pointless if it is essential, just do your maths properly and work it out.

Are you selling this on eBay or elsewhere, any warranty on the parts?

Thanks for answering that Wolfgang, although he clearly said it was a 19 pin connector used. I think I'll just pull up a seat here until he clears up the confusion, there's no rush on my part.

Edit: Wolfgangs post I was replying to disappeared by the time I hit the POST button.
