Saving sequences

Hey so i've had my mpc for a while now, taught myself how to some of the simpler things like changing pads and recording. I can't figure out how to save it though, so every time i turn it off they are lost forever. It might be that the memory is full from its previous owner. How do i go about saving, and should if i delete sequences that are on there, will i lose the sound boards?
