Sounds like it's time for another 25:1 poll.

JAH wrote:That is your opinion. But 1.0 is exactly what Akai intended it to be. It would be a waste of time debating this.

:Sigh: :WTF:

No, it is not.!
It is just plain common sense.
Come on Jah, not even a hardware scroll/zoom function on 1.0. :Sigh:

I love this update.!

peace :smoker:

You feel that way because you are unaware of the effort involved with implementing specific functions. Every desirable function or feature can't be implemented over night. So while 1.0 didn't have everything users/potential users want....the same will still hold true for 1.4 and 1.5.

While zoom wasn't available from the hardware initially...it was available in the software. This applies to several features. Not having it at all would have been a bigger deal. Keep in mind that Akai is one of only a few companies creating a product like this. There are numerous software music production products on the market. Most if them do not have a controller that operates 100% of the software. Those that come close cost thousands of dollars.

BremenCole wrote:And 1.5 on Maschine was huge. I think you may be right. Akai has brought the software well into the useable stage, now perhaps they can take it to the next level.

Not perhaps....they are. Already in progress. :smoker:

The one thing customers wanted from 1.0 was a working product. What they were sold was anything but.

That would imply that Numark knowingly released a highly unstable product with a "sell it now and we'll fix it later" mindset. Good to know. :smoker:

That's an unfair indictment; when, dayum near everything is developed with that model today. Which rock do you reside under?!

Methinks you are arguing for the sake of baiting Jah into a flame war. Give it a rest!

Furthermore- most smart consumers knew exactly what they were in for when they purchased the Ren. If you expected more than initially advertised, shame on you for not doing your homework. Gear sluttery / buyer's remorse are 2 evil combos.

Sorry dude, the Ren was released in unfinished state to make a deadline and unusable to most. They were against the clock with the release of NI's Maschine controllers and whatever they had they threw out there. My niece bought the Ren when it was released. I saw first hand what a disaster it was. It was awful. No product should have hit streets in that state. Discounting Numark's actions as standard fair doesn't fly.

In addition to that....I refuse to have this type discussion with the individual that has never owned or used the Ren/Studio.

Obviously, I have used/tested the Ren for 1 1/2 years now. I know exactly what OS 1.0 could or couldn't accomplish. It was as actually pretty good....noting an exception to the way it handled plugin instruments. I had zero major problems using it like I have used hardware MPCs.

The general consensus amongst early adopters that had to actually spend their hard earned cash contrasted with "pretty good".

Actually, the consensus you speak of are those that trolled this forum and didn't buy the product.

Now 1.4 validates what us early adopters knew from the very start. And as the negativity poured it, quite a few forum members that actually used the product posted numerous videos of the Ren/Studio in action. You can't argue with the video examples.

It is really hurting the past and current naysayers. Now they are struggling to find something to rant against....like harping on 1.0 when we are on 1.4.....and the next update being coded as I type this.

commitment?

1 developer team is a hella commitment

:fku:

yes it makes sense to get rid of your hardware...you dont use it

JAH wrote:1.4 truly showcasing Akai's commitment to these new MPCs. I have been loving the Ren since 1.0....1.4 takes it to another level. I enjoy telling guys 'I told you say'....

Just wait to you see what is up next. Of course, I will expect the same guys saying that it is what 1.0 should have been (which is stupid...by the way). I will probably be getting rid of my hardware MPCs (with the exception of the 3000) and MV soon as I rarely turn them on.

Civil, keep it civil people. I would like to NOT close this thread.

Threads would never need to be closed in a Ren/Studio users only forum. How can you comment on an update on a product when you have never owned or used it?

You should make that forum yourself, and go there, instead of here, so you don't have to put up with any non-MPC Software owners who are interested in what it can and can't do, and so you don't have to argue these threads into lock!

I wonder, out of the threads that get locked on these forums due to arguing, what percentage of those involve you arguing it into lock?

And if you were not arguing in those threads, would there still be an argument, and would they end up being locked?

Just about the only reason threads in this forum get locked, is because you disagree with what is being discussed, and feel that you purposely have to argue them into lock to protect Akai's reputation or something.

I've owned the Ren since 1.0 and have been reading forum comments good and bad about each update and I kept silent for the most part adding my two cents in on what features I'd like to see and left it up to Akai to come through..I've owned and have heavily used the 2000, 2000XL, 5000, 3000 & 2500 and now the Ren...I was not voicing my "Opinion" on if this was an unfinished product released to the public or not..I was stating a "FACT" that it was an unfinished product released to the public. This is true that 1.0 version of anything u get you shouldn't expect much from it but the 1.0 in this case seemed more like a beta release than an actual public version release..I'm not here to bash the MPC Ren..I Love this MPC and I wanted to finally share how pleased I am with this latest update..in my "Opinion" this is the Best MPC..and I do believe 1.5 and further will have great additions...Lets just agree to disagree about the whole 1.0 debate but we all agree that this latest update is official and Akai did a great job and keep up the good work...

You should.....

The topic of the thread is 'Thoughts on 1.4 so far.' So are you satisfied with 'your' Ren/Studio....as opposed to 'my' Ren/Studio?
