Yeah, your method is definitely a lot simpler 8) He could have even done things that way on the MPC3000. I kind of look at the MPC500 as being like a 3000 or 60 anyway, with no waveform display and having to do everything by numbers. Although the 3000 had some cool stuff like filter envelopes, and let you mess with attack times and stuff in step edit. But where the 500 wins out is the portability, built in effects, high pass filter, etc.

The pads are excellent and even without the corx its very responsive, its those nipples that need adjustments. On the stock pads, the nipples are straight and fits right in, but the fat pads are shaped like rain drops and because of that, the lower fatter part doesn't squeeze into the holes all the way. So when you think its in, that little blob will squeeze itself upward little by little and creating a bubble that cause double hits and undesired pad plays.

Other than that, its like playing a piano.

just what dude said.. i love my fat pads, just had to mod my mp for a sweeter feel, my best pads ever though were the black mpc1000 pads in the 500, no corks. get the black 1000 pads, cut the extra row off, and BAM!! unless he has changed the design since 09' who knows, he could be making the nipples bigger or some shit..

Not sure if I mentioned this. But on the end points, for quickness u can just look at the st point of the sample before it and use the numeric key while keying in the numbers with the pads..
