How often do you use Next Sequence Mode?

Does anyone here use Next Sequence Mode? If so, in what scenario do you find it most useful? Does it work as you expect it to? Any suggestions for improvements?

I've yet to put it to use, however I wouldn't want it removed. It's just one of those features I've yet to explore and plan on doing so in due time.

Now you brought it up I've played with it for a couple minutes and I can tell you I will be making use of it. It seems like a sequence loop pad that I can just mess around with the order and triggering of sequences which makes it perfect for a live/jam situation.

This feature has been around since the MPC 4000. It is supposed to be a tool used for live performances I believe. But they added a function in the Ren where you can turn your performance into a Song.

I never use this. But I have been playing with it lately and have some ideas for improvements. But I a curious to know how others use it and if they have any feedback on this feature.

I always use it when making a beat. I use it to hear the crossing between different sequences i created. For example the crossing between part, chorus, or different part sequences with variations. Sometimes i convert this arrangment directly into a song. I really wouldn't want to miss this feature.

live seq to song edit mode....

pads represent what tracks you are triggering/allowing to play/mute , function keys cycle which sequence to trigger from .. I dont know if this could work though from coding point of view.. Kinda like track muting and next sequence in one...

Never use it!

When I first got the Ren I used it a lot but due to the pain and anguish caused by the broken and decades old mixer model, I found what could have been a superb combination feature to be a rather large ishooo! - as you know.

I dont use it all now - ther Ren that is, due to its broken mixer of course. Just sits in its box in the corner of the room.

The next seq feature is superb - IF ONLY a global mixer and time based seq changes is implemented. If Akai did that then were talking a serious piece of kit with major wide appeal. Why oh Why! doesnt someone at Akai understand this. Every single new piece of kit these days aimed at the elctronic music lands (all genres) has huge emphasis on performance - which can be for live use , or creating live arrangements on the fly - which in my opinion is the real holy grail.

The Reggae guys made all their records like this - except the console/mixer/ was the seqeuncer - used to punch things in and out as they recorded the master to 2 track. Song was bascially a semi structured loop, but the mixer was the tool for the arrangement. The Ren could be brilliant at this - but the broken mixer will forever resign next seq to a five minute curiosity for most.

AND in fact it would be brilliant for many Hip Hop geezers - if they saw it in action.

Akai actually understands the need some users want for a global mixer. I believe there are comments in the forum from developers on this matter.

This product caters to many people. And the global mixer isn't even the most popular feature request in this forum (just pointing this out and not debating)....and I can only assume the same is true for all the producers they consulted when designing this product.

Next Sequence for live use.....

Either I read somewhere or dreamed it up...but for this Mode to have like a 'beat juggling' function. Where all the sequences are following a linear time line. So when I strike pads, I can 'beat juggle' as if I were on two turntables as opposed to sequences start from bar 1 when a user strikes pads.

In recent MPC terms....it would be like Continuous Sample Tracks....but more like Continuous Sequences. Additionally, SIMULT Sequences should be brought back.

Have you noticed more and more folks talking about this.
As I said ages ago the mixer tied to seqeunces will become a big issue.
Of course that may depend on increased sales, larger user base.
