I think the biggest issue is the fact that even on the Ren, it is gimped so it only works across the main outs. It's a bunch of VSTs, you should use them like any other VST. Clearly the restriction was purely concocted to fit in with the 'Vintage Mode' button marketing idea. And that's what's so rotten about all this - people missing out unnecessarily just so they could create a 'cool' marketing angle for the product.
Given the hack came to light in 1.3, it would be nice to see this officially rolled out in 1.6.
However the quandary for them is that suddenly the Vintage Mode button has to officially become obsolete. It would not have any purpose at all, as you can just insert one (or more) of the Vintage VSTs across the master outs within the software itself. Marketing department's going to hate that.
