Audio through

The Ren's drivers enables you to use it as an audio/MIDI device for your computer.

Even when not connected to a computer, the Ren's audio interface is functional....and very loud. The Ren works as follows:

1. Start with the Ren, studio monitors, and a keyboard (or any audio source) all turned off.

2. Connect the Ren's Stereo Outputs (not the Mix Outs) to your studio monitors. Connect the audio outs of your keyboard to the Ren's Rec inputs (combo XLR & 1/4").

3. On the back of the Ren, ensure phantom power is off and the Mic/Line switch is set to Line.

4. On top of the Ren, set the Rec Gain switch to Mic/Line.

5. Turn the Ren's Rec Gain to Min; Direct Mon to Input; Main Volume to Min

6. Turn your keyboard a to minimal or 0.

7. Now turn on the Ren (doesn't need to be connect via USB), keyboard, and your studio monitors.

8. Set your keyboards volume to about 50%

9. On top of the Ren, set REC GAIN knob to 50%

10. Start striking keys of your keyboard. Use a combination of your keyboards Volume knob and the Ren's REC GAIN knob until the Ren's REC GAIN meter reaches -3db

8. Then slowly start increasing the Main Volume knob of the Ren.

The Ren's volume knob at 50% will be unpleasantly loud.

In a practical application, you can have your Ren connected directly to your studio monitors. You can have the outputs of your mixer connected to the inputs of the Ren. Then you can connect multiple keyboards, drum machines, etc to the mixer.

Hey, Jah, thanks for the advice, I will make a vid of me doing exactly this tonight and you will see that it doesn't work for me. I don't have a keyboard but I am going from my mixer outs. If I go straight from the mixer to the monitors it's loud, if I then go from the mixer to the ren and then out of the ren to the monitors it's quiet no matter what I do with the levels on the ren.

This is hurting my brain!

Upon another look....I discovered that my earlier Ren (updated firmware) is much louder than my newer model (nonupdated firmware). Not sure if this makes a difference.

While I can get a decent level with the newer unit, I can see what you mean by it not being loud enough. Having my Ren set to max is at a decent level but it is enough enough to disturb my neighbors.

But as soon as I plug in my USB cable...the volume gets significantly louder. With the USB cable plugged in, computer on...my newer Ren (old drivers) performs like my older Ren (new drivers, no USB connection)......
