question about mpc1000 sound quality

Is there a difference in sound quality or internal wiring or something between the blue and red mpc 1000 and the black mpc 1000?

I ask because I had a black mpc1000 a few years back but like a fool, I sold it and regretted it a short while after...anyway, I now have a blue mpc1000 and I remember my beats back on the black mpc being naturally harder or having more bump...even before eq and compression.
Im using the exact same compact flash with the same drums samples on it. (I never got rid of it) so it cant be the drums.
Is it just me? does anybody else have any experience between the two mpc1000's and their sound quality?

It's your imagination. Internally the 2 are the same. Only difference was the original god awful pad design on the blues. Really the 1k and 2500 have no "sound" at all. They sound identical to any mid grade computer audio interface. That is totally neutral adding zero coloration. All the prior MPCs did have distinct sound and character, with the first 3 models the most distinct sounding.

Check your global volume settings maybe it's on -6dB and you used to use it at 0dB.
