I did a search and havent found this yet, so if its already been covered let me know... but i cant seem to understand why the track mute seems to stop the midi from hitting rather than stopping the volume of the track... i have been working around this by putting a volume edit on the track essentially muting it... when i record a track mute on a sampled pad hit it blocks the pad hit instead of just not allowing the sound..... example: if the sample is 4beats long and i only mute the first two beats it mute the sample until there is another hit. hope yall understand what im saying. thanks

that's how all mpcs work as far as i know.
i think jj has the option to do both.

it is actually pretty handy - if you want to mute the audio use a mixer or a channel in the software.

Because it is a MIDI sequencer, they are MIDI tracks you are muting, not audio tracks.

Try navigating to Preferences > Sequencer > Instant Track Mute. If ticked, the track output will be muted instead of the MIDI track, even allowing you to unmute while a not heard sample still runs - if you get what I mean. ;)
