Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Using a MPC2000xl with a 100mb internal zip drive. I have a external 100mb zip drive that i have connected to my imac. I have filled all my disk and need more storage space. I realize that zip storage is very out dated but this is how I'm running until i can upgrade to something different. So the question is can i take the zip disk with my sounds,pgms,seq,ext.... stick it in my external drive connected to my computer and basically empty the disk onto my computer hard drive? I have tested it and it seems to work but i am worried about the files being changed from when i take them from the disk put them on computer and swap them back,

You can but it's not recommended.
Most people use a dedicated disk (transfer disk) to move files to their computer.
If you use your storage disk you run the risk of the computer corrupting it and losing all your data.
Get another disk and use that to transfer.

Zip disks, while unreliable, are pretty cheap now.

I've caught several great deals on used ZIP disks on Ebay! I have 50 on their way right now. They only cost me 26 dollars. Definitely keep the filenames under 8 characters. The MPC 2000/xl writes 40 some characters per character so you're talking 40 to the 8th power as fas as filename possibilities go. FYI I do my backups on Dropbox at the end of every session!!
