Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Sonic2 Sun Dec 12, 2004 11:48 pm
whenever I load a program off a zip on my 2000xl, the shit loads fine and everything. When I go into the program scene everything is their just as I had saved it and I can change whatever I want. When I go into the mainscreen the prgram appears just like it should and I can play and record with it. However when I go to the program part of the screen (PGM) and change the program to a different program that I have saved, the MPC always looses the program from the zip drive. I don't have any problems if I change between programs that I made from samples of records that were sampled directly into the MPC. The problem is when it from the zip. Thanks if you read all of this and thanks again if you know how to fix this.

Also is it easy to replace the note variations slider? I need to do it where can I buy a new one?

Have I got this right? You are not losing, as in erasing, programs from the zip disk .....they are still on that, right?

When you load a new program from a disk, you get the options:CLEAR, CANCEL & LOAD. If you choose CLEAR, it loads the new program you want but erases the previous program & sounds you had in the MPC. You need to choose LOAD if you are going to add the new program but still keep the old ones.

When you first go into the PROGRAM screen, if you then press OPEN WINDOW you get the options DELETE, NEW, CLOSE & COPY. Are you doing this & accidently deleting the program, thinking this feature does something else?

Are either of these what the problem is? If not, try & describe it a bit clearer.

first off thanks for the reply,
I'm not losing files on the zip disk. Also I am hitting load not clear. The problem is that when I am in the main screen and I am switching between programs the MPC always forgets the last program that I was using. This only happens when the last program I was using came from a zip disk.

Another problem is that when I record a sequence in loop mode (this is the only mode I have used) and then change the track and change the program it plays the sequence back for the new program. Even though I changed the track.

This must be some weird bug then. I hope you get advice from someone who knows about things like this because I don't. They might suggest downloading a new version of the OS from Akai's website.
