Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I've made a drum sequence & when I hold down erase while in overdub & hold a pad it isn't erasing it.
Its a 2 bar sequence which I then copied & made variations of to string together in song mode.
I'm not sure if there is some sort of lock note function, if that even exists?
Even in step edit erasing each event doesn't make any difference.
Maybe it has something to do with it being a copy of a sequence?

Anyone have any idea whats going on? :hmmm:
I'm pretty new to the MPC so I'm hoping it's just me not knowing whats going on.

Thanks for any help.

Yeah the erase button seems to work when I add other notes in , even the same instrument on the same pad.
I'm not sure if it has glitched in some way, and I should just make the beat again, which isn't particularity hard,
And to the person who asked if I'm using a 2000 as apposed to Xl - yep I'm on a 2000, do you think I should just scrap it and start again?
That was my initial thought but then I might run into the same problem again, was my secondary thought : )

Anyway as I'm sure you can tell, I haven't much of a clue, I've only just figured out song mode, barely.

Thank you for the help & advise.

The note erase function only works on the active MPC sequencer track, and when in Record Overdub mode.

If you have used multiple tracks, you need to change the active MPC track to the track that has the sounds you want to erase on it.
