Swing per Track

Can someone explain/confirm if there is an easy method to apply swing per track?
It seems like setting swing applies to all tracks except if you chose "selected" events in TC?

swing is applied per track, right now its bugged out on mavericks osx, i dunno if its 1.6 in general

what do you mean by bugged out? it applies it on all tracks instead of per track?

As for the bug on maverick/1.6....

swing and time shift are bugged right now, when sequencer is set to 96ppq time the shift and swing under t.c. still acts as if the sequencer is in 960ppq. So if you want to shift 1 you have to actually dial in "10" and if you want to shift 2 you have to dial in 20, and so on. Also the same for swing, on 96 ppq you have to swing 54 just to get a 52 and so on... I contacted Pete about this and they said they are working on fixing it so they know its a bug.

It blows my mind that people who use an mpc almost daily here don't notice these things, this was like the first thing I noticed when I switched to 1.6.

Every track has its own swing, just dial in your swing and apply it or have it set before you record and the corresponding track will have that swing. Just change the swing on every track and you will have a different swing per track.

"All" and "selected" only applies to the track your on. "All" it will effect all pads that were recorded on that track, "selected" it will only effect selected pads that have been recorded to that track

I remember having problems with the ALL and SELECTED function, it would say ALL or SELECTED but would not accurately apply it to the notes in my sequence. a few times it stopped working while I was in the middle of a project so there might be a bug there. The ppq/swing/shift bug is def there

thanks for the explanation.. 3K user here.. i actually don't own ren.. just been messing with the demo.. trying to vet if the app has all the original features & workflow.. that bug sounds pretty nasty btw!

I mean if you invest in one now while they are so low priced, you can grab a Renaissance for like $600-800, it might be worth it just to have it, sooner or later this thing is going to be up there with the 3000, 4000 or something like a mv8800 but it could be anywhere from a few months to a few years from now before the software is near full potential. If you don't mind running into occasional problems here and there and want to take advantage of the prices right now I say go for it. Just know there are other things out there right now that may work better for you but if you like the mpc workflow and their products then it's just a matter of time before the Ren/Studio gets things rolling so it may be wise to buy one now, but if you think down the road you may of wanted something else than just think more about it

now should the setting stay in the box when i leave the track because every time i go back to the track its back at 50 not the actual notes that I've moved just the setting

^ exactly which is what got me confused thinking swing was global & not per track

@inspectah: unfortunately Ren hasn't been discounted here in europe (still around $1200) which makes pulling the trigger a lot harder then if i were in the states where indeed at $600 i'd robocop it.. i'd actually have to consider selling my 60/3K to afford it

Yes, it is global, it is not per track.

You can use a different timing correct/swing amount on each track, when recording, or when applying it to previously recorded events.

But it is a global setting for the function itself, it doesn't keep the setting stored in each track as a timing correct/swing setting, it simply moves the events into place when initially being recorded, or when chosen as an offline process.

it won't save your setting for each track, it keeps the most recent setting and applies that to new tracks or new recordings. Nothing should be getting reset to 50 unless you go into the t.c. window and change the t.c. settings. In a sense it is global, meaning whatever is in the time correct window at the moment should apply to whatever you're recording or applying it to. So I can see how you might think it global but you can actually have different swing per track. there is a global t.c. window so to say.

does anybody know how can you see what setting are used on each track, because i experiment with it and then i don't know what settings were used on separate tracks?

you can't as of now just remember what kind of swing your adding to each instrument
