New to the MPC - Connection

Hey all,

Just setting up my 2000xl. I have a DJ set up already, with turntables. So the sample will come from the turntable and into the MPC via the DJ mixer's booth output. I'll then have to take my monitors out from the mixer and connect them to the MPC.

The monitors are currently connected to the DJ mixer via XLR, which is the only master out on the mixer and coincidentally the only input on the monitors.

It seems as though I'll have to swap the monitors out back and forth between DJ mixer and 2000 when I want to use either one.

I'm wondering if there's an easier way to go about doing this so that I don't have to swap the monitors each time?

I would just connect MPC stereo outs to ch1 on mixer, turntable to ch2, and booth to MPC record input. Mixer master out to monitors.

Of course channel selection is up to you.

Watch out for feedback loops if you connect this way. Sampling while the mpc input on the mixer is open could easily cause a howl.
One way to prevent this is to turn the monitor switch off. You will find it on the sampling page.

^^yep in this setup while sampling I monitored thru headphones from mixer and MPC/ch1 fader down.

Monitor in mpc recording screen on/off ^^in this setup if you try to record from vinyl with both faders up and at great volume on speakers bad things can happen.. coz mpc is feeded with it's own output at this moment, so you turn off monitoring OR remember to lower the mpc fader so it does not catch it's own signal (only while recording a sample). Well at some point you might actually want to catch a little feedback just NEVER do it at high volume on monitors.

You will still be monitoring through your DJ mixer so you will still be able to hear it.
