What is the thinking behind this?

I have OS 10.6.8 and Ren 1.5

I know it works, but when did you try and install 1.5?

All I know is, I installed plenty of software on 10.6.8, but I couldn't open the MPC files.

A guy who works for Akai said, on the Akai forums, that after they dropped support for 10.6x, there was an OS Blocker installed, and offered to email versions to ppl who needed it to work on the older OS.

Again I ask, if that is the case, what was the thinking behind that?

I think you probably misunderstood what he was saying.

I would think that he meant that the OS Blocker was added to the 1.6 update, after initial versions of the 1.6 update allowed installation on 10.6.8, and it caused problems.

There is no reason for them to prevent the earlier 10.6.8 compatible updates (1.1 -1.5) from running on 10.6.8, and I really don't believe they would have done that.

Ah, I hear what you're asking now. I don't know for sure, but I installed OS 1.1 almost a year ago and have been doing the updates along the way. Never went past 10.6.8 of course and didn't run the 1.6 update until I heard reports. I'm sorry it went down like that.
