Ok folks lets read between the lines, if anybody is asking about the mbox it is easy to see money is no where long enuff to get pro tools hd and who needs it, just get nice on the mpc and use some one elses(are we tring to become producers or recording studio's). I would not get the mbox. Forget what anybody may say about how it works for them. The mbox is good but not good to be recording beats. I dont care if you only use the stereo outs on the mpc right now, sooner or later youll use all the 8 outs when you get it if you dont and the mbox will be no longer needed and youll have to sell out money again. Why not just do it right the first time. the mbox only have two in puts and spdif and you cant use the spdif at the same time as the analog inputs. THe mbox is run off your computer power so if you have a weak computer this is gona make it even more weaker....matter fact if you have a weak computer pro tools is gona murder your computer if its a pc with -00003 erro messages.
I would get the digi 002 or a motu 828 mk2 and a copy of cubase sl(you can always ungrade to sx later on if needed but you can never take the le off pro tools unless your drop few grand). Pro tools is the standard and you everybody body claims they want to be compatible with the bigger units but helllllloooooooo have you ever herd of OMF FILES. That lets you open up a cubas or nuendo file in pro tools Hd or le so whats the point. The digi 002 has a about 18 inputs (8 line inputs, spdif,adat8, and something else i cant recall) That means you can recor 6 sounds from the triton with the 8 analog inputs at once. If you get the adat card for the mpc you can also record 8 sounds from the mpc 4k at once or the triton and mpc all at the same time(up to 14 tracks all at the same time). You can do anything like this close and trust me youll hate the way you really have to do it all on the mbox. Time is money and money is time and if you waste 450 on the mbox in good time youll have to spend 1200 on the digi 002 and you will ahve spent up to 17 or 18 hundred dollars cause the mbox dont have any midi inputs so youll have to buy one fo those seprate to track your beats in and make sure they all line up right. I dont think getting the mbox will get you use to pro tools cause on the mbox or digi 002 the pro program pro tools is the same so why not just get ya moneys worth.
