Just wanted to share my experience

I recently bought the 2500 big screen JJOS (Still confused by what the hell version I have. Got an XL screen but not the XL OS ?? )

Anyhow, to anyone considering I am a self confessed newbie. I have to say I put of and stuck with Akai for years. But since I went over to JJ there is no coming back. This is the operating system Akai should have made. Everything is easier and way more powerful.

If any other newbies are considering JJOS and have put of feel free to post here and ill do my best to answer. Technical Qs are suited better to the guys who have been on JJ for ever. But maybe I can answer some Qs that seem obvious to the experts.

Either way, JJOS is minimum outlay, and I honestly feel it makes your MPC 4 times as powerful. But its early days, so maybe more like 8 or 12 times. Do it.

good to see a new user jump in. keep at it, and yeah maybe helps to know what OS you are using. big screen has two versions, one free OS that came with it and also OS128XL which is like JJOSXL so costs money but is better.

Thats, some of the guys on here keep telling me what the OS is, I paid for it and it was worth every penny twice over. But then in my man brain I forget

righto, i watched ya and see straight away that your doin your thang there and want to maybe give you a heads up about a few things as I kinda have the same kinda set up.
Pattern to pad is good for midi CC info - up to 200 total bars over any pad. new footswitch for bank change, and those two together are pretty powerful for live playing.
So you can make a blank track with say just good old CC74 sweep over 4 bars. Convert it to a pattern and then assign pattern to pad and then you have a premade controller macro you can send to any synth that takes CCs. This can be sent to midi channel you choose and can be played live and also recorded. Not just CCs, but patterns of chopped beats, samples, what ever you make.
So that is patterns and pad assign. Also see grid edit to edit data, and you have to enter another screen in grid edit but pitch wheel and CC data is there and editable visually which is good.
