hdd kit and free jjos

howdy folks
my cf reader pins were damaged today meaning I can no longer save or load so I will need either new cf reader board or a hdd kit,

I am currently using the free jjos , will i be able to install an hdd kit and upgrade to os2xl without a compact flash card working?

you can replace the CF card reader board inside your mpc. you might be able to bend pins back. i have once a long time ago and it worked.

yeah I checked the replacement part but at almost the same price as a hd kit I reckon the hd would be the safer/best option,

wont be needing either though as I straightend the pins last night
took my time with a tiny flat head screwdriver and its working again.

The CF slot on these things is junk, I was buying and repairing these for awhile and 50% of them were damaged CF pins. If you get lucky you can bend them back. If you play with them too much they just break.
I was lucky enough to be working for a tech shop and one of the techs was able to replace it for me, but we had all the good equipment. Some laptop/computer repair shops will replace them for you for around $50.
Such a pain.
