The Piano sound is probably coming out of the Windows built-in synthesizer, because you have the USB cable connected to the Fantom, and it is sending MIDI into the computer over the USB cable.

Do not plug the USB cable into the Fantom.

Only plug MPC MIDI output A into the Fantom MIDI input.

You need to get it working so you can hear sounds in the Fantom headphone output, when playing the MPC pads, with an MPC track set to MIDI A1.

Can you hear a piano sound coming out of the Fantom, through headphones plugged into the Fantom?

Are you sure that Performance Mode is turned on in the Fantom?

Have you setup Performance Mode in the Fantom to play the sound you want on MIDI channel 1?

Leave the Fantom in Performance Mode, do not change it to a patch after setting up Performance Mode to the sound you want on each Performance part and MIDI channel in the Fantom.

Is the MPC sequencer track set to TYPE: MIDI, PORT: A, MIDI CH: 1?

Have you tried playing the MPC pads when set to pad bank D, or any other pad banks?

Are you setting up a User Performance, in Performance Mode?

Are you setting up the Fantom Performance Part View/External screen to play a different patch on each MIDI channel, like this?...



And then leaving it in Performance Mode?

In MPC Software Preferences/MIDI/Midi Mapping, is Midi Out Port A set to the Renaissance MIDI Out Port A?

I have no words to thank the commitment to help

1 - I can not hear anything on headphone in fantom when I touch one pad only if you select local switch on
2-layer performance'm onscreen mixer or performance umpatche chosen for each channel
3 - each performance mode and patched in a mid channel
4 - The mpc midi port Midi Ch 1
5-ja tried every pad banks in mpc
6-fantom in the performance mode user performance
7 - view part one patched to each channel

no sound
the LED flashes showing the mpc mid transmission and can record a sequence but without sound or with a piano that is not the fantom

Sounds like it is not getting MIDI from the MPC MIDI output into the Fantom MIDI input correctly.

If you leave Local MIDI off on the Fantom, and connect the MIDI output of the Fantom to the MIDI input of the Fantom, with a MIDI cable, does it play the patch assigned to the first part of the Performance from the Fantom keyboard, through headphones plugged into the Fantom?

This would determine that the MIDI input to the Fantom Performance is working correctly, then you would have to see why MIDI is not being sent from the MPC correctly.

I can record a sequence on the mpc from fantom
but no sound
when you talk place mid this mean local switch?

You say you can get MIDI from the Fantom into the MPC.

You need to also get MIDI from the MPC into the Fantom.

I am saying to test MIDI into the Fantom, by connecting Fantom MIDI out to Fantom MIDI in, with Fantom Local MIDI off, and test if there is sound out of Fantom headphone output when playing the Fantom keyboard.

I auditioned with cables in fantom
I can only get some sound in headphones with local switch on
if you are off no sound in headphone
a few weeks ago I had a Roland MV8800 bound in fantom
running smoothly
with the same two cables connected

Local switch on makes an internal MIDI connection inside the Fantom between the Fantom keyboard and the Fantom sound engine.

Local switch off, with a MIDI cable connecting the Fantom MIDI out to the Fantom MIDI in, should do the same thing, except with an external MIDI connection between the Fantom keyboard and the Fantom sound engine.

If you are testing it with a MIDI cable connecting the Fantom MIDI out to the Fantom MIDI in, and not getting any sound with Local switch off, but are getting sound with Local switch on, then it seems like something is set incorrectly in the Fantom, which is stopping external MIDI from being recognised.

That sounds like it might be your problem.

It seems that with USB MIDI mode on, it will not receive MIDI from the MIDI input.

Turn the Fantom USB MIDI mode off, and try with the MPC again.

That would also have been sending MIDI from the Fantom into your computer over USB, when connected to the computer via USB, and might have been playing the piano sound from the Windows built-in synthesizer.
