Im using a MPC60 II & MPC3000. Will a Midi Merge Box/Rack D

Sorry if the title is confusing.

I currently have an MPC60 and MPC3000. They are not connected to each other via Midi. I have a Motif keyboard that i like to use on my MPC60. But sometimes I jump on my MPC3000 and want to use the Motif with it.

Does anybody know if I can place one of those MIDI merge boxes or Midi patchbays between both MPC so that I will be able to hop on either the 60 or 3000 and utilize the motif keyboard on Channel 1A of both mpc's (of course not using both mpc's at the same time. Just one or the other)

Pretty much im trying to not have to keep switching midi cables from the motif and both mpc's.

Yes, you want a thru or patchbay.
A merge will not work as you want to split a signal, not combine (or "merge" ) 2 or more signals.

You could also connect the Keyboard to one of the MPC's MIDI inputs and connect the MPC's via MIDI and have the data pass through the first MPC to the second.

One MIDI IN for your Motif, 2 MIDI THRU for your MPC's.

Sometimes you can use a THRU box in reverse to MERGE MIDI data.

one of those pink midiman merge 2x2 boxes would be exactly what you need.. because you do want to merge the two midi outputs to the one midi input on the keyboard. get a second one to go back from the keyboard to the two mpcs. they can be powered from the mpcs too... but can be plugged into an adapter for some old drum machines that can't output enough juice.

That's the worst merger I've ever used. I found it affected timing of notes and MIDI clock.

ah really? never had that issue with mine... but I use it for a midi keyboard to trigger two things so I wouldn't have to unplug cables and for that it worked great... got it for 5 bucks like 10 years ago. I didn't try it for a clock though...

I used mine for merging MIDI clock from one sequencer and notes from another.
Was pretty wobbly.

Although I never tried it as a thru box like you.

im glad you mentioned it though... it didn't occur to me that it was possible for that to happen from a box like that. Supposing I was trying to use it that way, it may have been an issue I wouldn't think was coming form the box.
