MIDI help

Hey so Iv watched a bunch of videos on youtube saying in order to record a sequence using a midi keyboard I need a mixer. Just wondering if theres a way around spending money on a mixer?


Iv recorded midi data onto a sequence but that makes it so it only plays the audio when my keyboards connected. I want to be able to record a sequence then unplug the keyboard and still be able to play the audio after its been unplugged. This is my main issue.


Helpful advice is always appreciated so please tell me what you think i should go about doing when integrating midi into my beats.

sample your keyboard. thats the only way to take the sound out of the keyboard.

there are so many midi keyboards to choose from, and they can all double as a controller. any midi keyboard will work. some have more features than others. if you can, visit a music gear retailer like guitar center if you have one close by.

Really I swore I saw people recording sequences directly from the keyboard thats harsh..

you mean audio tracks? i dont use those.

youre talking about using a keyboard to make a sound and then unhooking the keyboard and taking the mpc to another place, playing the sequence and still hearing the sound the keyboard made in the sequence etc?

You can use a MIDI keyboard to input MIDI notes into the MPC sequencer.

Those MIDI notes once in the MPC sequencer can be used to play internal sounds within the MPC, or they can be sent out of the MPC to an external MIDI sound source, such as the MIDI keyboard being used to input MIDI notes, if it has a built-in sound engine, or any other MIDI sound device, such as a MIDI sound module or other MIDI keyboard with a sound engine.

If you are playing internal MPC sounds with the MIDI keyboard, you can unplug the keyboard, once the MIDI notes are recorded into the MPC sequencer, and play the recorded MPC sequences without having the MIDI keyboard attached.

If you are playing sounds from external MIDI sound devices, you need to record those sounds into the MPC as samples, and play those samples internally from the MPC sequencer, or onto MPC audio tracks, if the MPC OS supports audio tracks, if you want to use the MPC without having the external MIDI sound device attached.
