question about racks

i want to get into composing as well as sampling, but i thought instead of buying a keyboard it might be a good idea to just buy a rack and link it via MIDI to the MPC2000...

but since i know nothing about racks, is this a practical thing to do?

am i right in thinking that with, say a triton rack i can play the sounds through the drum pads just as if it was a keyboard?


and what's a good one to get? motif? triton?

as long as you have a controller keyboard its a good idea....i think you'll regret not having akeyboard as playing through the mpc is whilst possible not very effective...chords anyone..

What he ^ said. Especially when you want to get into composing, a keyboard is essential. You could get one keyboard synth, and if you want to add more synths later you can just get the rack versions.
