I've said this before and I'll say it again, I think the main issue with the Ren is that it doesn't do some software related things as well as other software, and as well as people expected it too. But hands down, compared to any hardware MPC, the Ren is superior in most ways. Simply put, people coming from hardware MPC's should be happier. People coming from other great software are the ones that are mostly unhappy. IMO. I come from both. Compared to my 2000XL and 2500 (even with JJOS), I could never go back to those machines after using the Ren. But compared to other software I've used, like Reason, Pro Tools, Maschine, I felt let down in many ways. So you can't really always solely go by what every one says. Sometimes you have to just try it and base your feelings on what you need.

8 days into maschine , def miss the RENs swing , I'd say midis a bit better in the ren too
I think the ren and maschine studio should get together and have a baby.
Yeah, I upgraded to Maschine 2.0 a few months ago and the sequencer definitely feels a lot better. I know some people have been complaining that it's buggy, but I haven't really had any issues with it. It crashed on me like one time. And last night I had an issue where it couldn't find a plugin that was used on a pad in my project even though the plugin was installed. I think it was because I originally created the project on a PC. Reinserting the plugin worked, but the settings were lost. I used Maschine 1.7/1.8 exclusively for a year straight prior to the Ren releasing and never had a single crash on either of the two PC's I used it with.
The thing about Maschines swing though, is that although it has a lot of options, it can be a little over complicated. I love that swing is real time, but this comes at the cost of not being able to have different swing values on different notes of the same pad since that pad is locked to the set swing value. Everything is a give and take I suppose! If you can't make beats with either product then...
