Saving with the smart card issue. Can someone please help me

Good day Verse here. So I have two mpc 5000's. I have a SanDisk Ultra II 2 GB disk that i save all my stuff on, beats, sounds etc. this is the best way i can explain this, hope you follow.

So say at this current point my file is at 300kb. I make a beat lets call it "beat 1", save now i am at 325kb. in that same day, i make another beat, "beat 2" now im up to 332kb. now im on to "beat 3" and i save, my file will drop size will drop to 150kb, the same file that was 332kb since the last beat. then if i try to save again to make sure all my work i did for that day is saved, I would get an error message. Sorry at this moment I don't remember the error message number, but always an error, and I end up loosing all my work i did for that day.

Can anyone please help and shed some light to this situation. I have place the ram out of one mpc too another and use the same smart card disk, same issue. I greatly appreciate you answer and time with this situation, thank you in advance.

i don't know if i really understand your problem , but iremember at the begining i had problems saving and now i create a new folder each time that i want to save (saving entire memory) ,it takes more time but i'm shure i haveeverything

OK i see you point, but have you ever have issue with saving information to one file via the smart cart saving option. See my issue is every time i save my work, i have specific files, but at any giving point out of the blue I will get an error during the saving process, which will result in me loosing a huge chunk of my beats/work i did in the past. Just trying to see if anyone else maybe had that issue with the mpc 5000, and how they dealt with it.

I see you option which is a great idea. But i use my mpc in a live environment which maybe a little difficult if i have to load a file each time i perform a song.

If you dont create new folders for each beat you could overwrite or corrupt those older beats seq samples and other file settings.. Always create new folders for each beat/project...

Mpc has a default name setting when you dont name it your self..
ie a sample is by default called "sample" and then it increaments it numerically.
pretty sure its the same for seq as well..

I'm not sure in detail how it works but i know that saving projects in seprate folders keeps things isolated and clean...
