SD Card problem??!!!

So my 1 gig cards were typically Sandisk cards but I had purchased some 1 gig cards that were off brand with out me thinking much about it. I had no problems loading these cards for quite a while, then all of a sudden I tried loading the card up and it would say

"Disk read error" or it would come up blank.

Now one of the other 1 gig cards that is that is the same off brand loads just fine.

My big question is, is there any way to get the information off the card onto another source, or any way to extract the information from it. Some of my best work is on the card and I never recorded most of the beats on it.

have you tried c+p'ing the files from the error-prone sd card to your computer, then putting them on a sandisk or other known good sd card?

power interruption during a write can freak out flash mem devices; ***after*** recovering any data from any of your error prone cards i would format them with the official secure digital formatting program and then format them in the mpc and see if itll work more reliably
obv tho id use the known working cards for your important projects!

Whether you get the beats off of the card, or not, use it as a lesson that you need to implement some sort of backup procedure for important/critical data, for when data storage devices and media fails, which it will at some stage.

There is a saying in IT, 'if it is not in 3 places, it doesn't exist'. Meaning that you should have your primary/working storage device/media, an onsite backup, and an offsite backup.
