The software additions seem great but from the release notes it appears that the software is rapidly outgrowing the hardware.

I personally thought the software was too big for the hardware from the start with the little ass screen. Blows my mind how they went with such a small screen for something with so much potential.

While it is a challenge to fit new features into the hardware, most of the features added in 1.7 are possible from the hardware as well as the software.

I agree. But we did try. We literally squeezed as much of the small small workflow shit in there as they would let us before they cut us off. Lol. Just wasn't enough time to add anymore than we already have.

If I may ask you a few questions..

When you add an effect to a pad does it still put that pad into a submix?

Do you still need the application or vst loaded up for midi controller mode?

Thanks

Nope, no longer forced to the submix. Don't have to use it unless you choose to.

Yes, I believe so. There is no separate controller application.

Dan mentioned right from the start that they wanted to roll with a basic 60/3000 style numeric display, with not a lot else going on.

I don't think they really brainstormed the concept before shit was already being made. They probably just had a price per unit cost and that's what they worked to.

I think the software has some real value now but it needs an updated piece of hardware to house it. A Ren MkII controller and a Ren MkII standalone could be very interesting.

The track mixer itself actually has not been unified. We were concerned about losing the ability to have separate beats in a single project on different sequences, which is vital to live performers. So we decided to hold off on this for now and see how things go with this new mixer. Because of the audio architecture being changed by moving the audio from tracks to the programs, the program/pad audio is unified throughout any sequence it's used in, which includes plugins. Things that will not be unified are track names, track type, track level/pan, etc; basically any track settings. Hope that makes sense. But we do have ideas to unify the track settings and still keeps live performers happy.

Track Explode...Nice, been wishing for this.

Hyped about all the updates. Akai and all the beta testers have been working hard.

Hopefully 1.7 drops next week at the latest.

That's great to know .Hopefully 1.8 it's in there .You guys did a great job .I'm still impressed with this update .To me the potential of the software is endless and it continues to get better .

Ah, ok. I was just about to post to ask how the tracks are unified, but this makes sense.

Thanks guys, looks great.

Hey one quick thing, Hellfire. If i remember right, you were heavy on the 2500 w/jjos? One thing I REALLY miss is the "divide" function when it comes to chopping. If you could put in a word for 1.8 i would very grateful homie.

EDIT: And actually and option to divide one chop into a specified number of equal chops would seem to be the logical evolution of that feature, too.

don't mean to derail the thread. just didn't know where/if anyone has asked for that.

Respect!

Hahah. Man, that shit been in there since 1.4. Lol. On the hardware, you cursor to the "slice" field to the right of the screen and press Window. It's in there. It's called Split.

yeah that mixer thing killed everything for me i can't believe that the levels and settings will not be unified across all seq… not even a option like in a previous video release awhile back guess that whole project got scratched??? :hmmm: all the other stuff is great but to me not doing live i do 1 beat per project just hope its not to long til then maschine it is , i was really looking forward to this…

p.s. i am goin to test drive the s**t out of this release tho :-D

on this track explode..
why wouldn't the primary track be replaced with first pad. instead of leaving it to be deleted manually?

other then drums and multi instruments like contact how would it be used?

im digging the new options. i really want to get in depth with key group programs, and PP. {i know not new} Still very rarely used items for a 2k/2KXL user. i don't see many examples online of people using unique or complex key group settings.
