Personally I don't understand why you all get on you high horse when some one wants to recreate a beat.

That's how musicians learn, by emulating the greats.
It's merely good musical practice.

The people who sampled it in the first place were just biteing how dope the guys who really played it in the first place.

There's a well respected member on here called JVC and he recreated a lot of classic beats using a roland SP and later a 2000XL. Most people found it to be dope.

And besides that, your argument about musicians and people who play drum machines... how come you know everybody on this forum and their skills?

Many people on here started out differently, many people played instruments, some of them i am sure are highly skilled. I think it's rather you who should get "down" from your arrogant point of view... or high horse, whatever you wanna call it.

Is the music of The Roots better because they play real instruments? Is the music of Pete Rock not good because he used a drum machine? Who are you to determine what counts as a musician and what rather goes into your so called category of "drum machine players"?

I can tell you from experience. A person with no ear for music, no feeling for rhythm, no understanding of harmonies... will be just as shit on a drum machine as on a piano.

PS: All music is copied. Please come up with a musical piece that contains scales and harmonies that have never been used before, then post it here.

PS2: I played instruments since the age of four. Piano, Violin, Bass, Guitar, etc.

Well said Jibber. I agreed with OP's first sentiment but his final comments were plain ignorant.

I use the turntable as an musical instrument as well as using a drum machine to make music as well. So if I sample myself using the turntable as an musical instrument does that make me a musician or a clown

Oh, thank you for mentioning! But, I use Korg Electribe ES-1, instead of Roland SP!
I still use my ES-1!

It's a homemade phono preamp with headphone amp build-in. One switch is for on/off and other one is for cross feed (it basically corrects extreme stereo panning.) It sounds great! It is used in all of my YouTube clips.

For those who are familiar with electronics, the unit is basically a combination of those two circuits:
(I cannot answer questions regarding circuit design, I'm not very familiar with circuit design.)

This headphone amp features an interesting function; cross feed switch, which I thought I wouldn't use it at all, but turned out to be very useful, when listening to those records with super panned stereo (like, guitar on left channel ONLY and drum on the right channel ONLY.)

Sometimes I should just walk away from the keyboard and leave it alone.

Ner but, my gripe was with people dissising people for wanting to find out & explore how songs were made and the cliquey elitism of "well is you don't know then you don't deserve to know' shit.

That stuff just really annoys me.
