Our musical production travels are why we are who we are today.
It's only made us smarter along the way.

Back on topic, my travels with the ASR X Pro were great but I just could not get down with the fiddly-ness. Would I do a red pro again, nope.

If you replace the encoders with the improved ones the Red Pro responds much better.
The problem is that they are the wrong length so you have to put the knobs on in the opposite order.
So instead of being recessed they will sit on top the cover.

Not to much of a difference appearance-wise but they are better quality.

I was really surprised when I found out that of course Emu used them in the Proteus based units like the MoPhatt and Roland used them in the Fantom-X.

hey everyone.

i have my asrx since a few days now and totaly dig it. Yes i have some jumpy encoders that i need to fix but otherwise i am allready in my 3rd beat (not saving anything tho cause waiting for the CF reader)

BUT i really cant freaking find out how to trim samples at the end point...
start pont is obvious, tho i dont know why the "sample index" is needed. seems like a more rough trim for the start point?

anyway, the percentage value in the sample/loop start point parameter does not trim my sample end but seem to do some weird startpoint variation with it.

anyone a hint for me?

btw, if anyone needs the EXP 3 Urban Dance, hit me up. I am more like 90% vinyl samples and than some rhodes and synths, so i dont really need it.

End point is on the Start/Loop=0 0 99, as the number 99, as you select it and decrease it's number value from 99, it edits the end point of the sample.

Hththt555 wrote:how can that be? some other setting interfering?

Only setting that comes to mind is PlayMode=OnceBackwrd, which reverses the sample and thus makes 99 end point to become starting point of the sample.

Have you tried to decrease the number from 99, to some extreme low like less than 10? Sometimes you have empty space after sample and you only edit that empty space without having effect on the sample itself.

it actually works. I had a samples that i recorded reverse when it didnt work out..

anyway.. can someone tell me if i absolutely need to make a systemsteup floppy to boot from if i want to use SCSI devices?

becasue i cant make the X find my CF drive.

When I got my cardreader I had to edit SCSI ID. My cardreader was brand new with preselected ID which didn't work, so I did remove a connector-type-of-a-thing between connection pins before I mounted reader on my scsi-case. Now cardreaders SCSI ID is 0 and it works.

I haven't needed systemsetup floppy. Just make sure you have SCSI 0 on the cardreader. Atleast that worked for me.

somewhow doesnt work for me. i am 100% sure the drive works with the asr. The seller tested it and sells them professionally (far too expensive sadly)
i want to let it go probably and go for the raizinmonster at some point but as long as i have it, i need to use it.

when i go to disk utilities or load/save it goes search for scsi device 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 but wont see the drive.

on the drive case i can choose the scsi ID and allready tried several. also 0 and 1 and above 2

What about termination?

Just ask seller what SCSI ID he configured cardreader with and go from there.

And also as suggested above. Check the termination.
