MPC2000XL pads problem

I just installed an internal zip drive in my MPC and when started it up recently, I noticed that the pads did not work. I'm pretty sure the sensor is not blown and I read up about the connector from the pads to the board. I noticed that there was some tape holding part of the connector down (secondhand MPC) but I am unsure of why it is not working now. I can plug it into the board fine but the MPC does not detect anything. Does anyone have any experience with this or a great amount of knowledge of the insides of MPCs? If someone could take a picture of the inside of the top of their MPC, that would be very much appreciated.

Did you accidentally placed the pads upside down/sideways when you put the MPC back together? I've seen that problem before.

Of course, make sure that pad connector ribbon you saw is plugged in tight.

The pads are in perfectly fine. I put the ribbon in several times and powered on and off with each time. None of them worked. There's space to put the ribbon in either in the middle of the black connector or on the bottom of it. Anyone know where it's really supposed to go?

I just did the same this past weekend, I bought a 40 (39 actualy)pin it had two connects on it, one primary one for slave.

I used primary so I didn't have to change anything on the drive itself.

I put it in the slot for the 40 pin connect , the other one is a 34 pin connect for the Floppy that came with the MP.

I had to solder the zip power plug, to the floppy power to motherboard connect., kinda like the MIDIcase website dude had to.

It's all good no probs.

I didn't even have to take off the top cover , just the bottom and front piece.

It was cake, now it's all contained nicely.

I'm not sure what going on with your pads.

Was it a SCSI or ATAPI drive?
You may just need to change the config on the zip drive itself.

Heh, thanks for that but the zip is installed fine. The pads are the only thing I'm having a problem with now.
