And hardware based instrument that exists to SAMPLE is any more ok to have a workaround to sample?

What a relief!

MPC Renaissance is the greatest product ever!

(Especially since MPC 3000, not the LE, just the regular one, are going for $2k on eBay, that's crazy!)

Wow, that de-escalated quickly:)

LOL;

I do love how much you can do on this as opposed to the 3000, and I do like the 3000 look and feel. So it's frustrating when the simple things are hard to do.

AKAI should iron out the remaining bugs in the software, hire Roger Linn to design the hardware, and come out with a nicely built $2000 stand-alone MPC 6000 with dedicated OS, audiophile converters, mic pres, 8 outs, etc etc....

1. I agree!

2. I doubt Roger Linn would ever do business with Jack O'Donell.

I haven't touched my Ren in over a month for kinda the same reason, I installed the 8.2 over 6.0 and needed to go back to 6 for various reasons. Now I have a folder of various projects created before the upgrade , some will load back 6 and others only load on 8.2

Any workflow you did on a 8.2 is not backward compatible so you are stuck in the matrix

I did save my old projects, but I did some important work on said files while on 8.2 , so I have a eclectic mix of projects I completed on 8.2 and 6.0 files in one folder. It's frustrating.

The reason I reverted back to 6.0 was some projects did not load on 8.2

Yeah I'm still on 6 because I'm afraid of losing projects. I've heard too many horror stories about 1.7 and above in that regard. Also I want to be able to keep exporting by track instead of having to do everything by program, which seems frustratingly limited and retarded.

Heads up,

USB 3.0 doesn't stop any software or hardware that was built with USB 2.0 from working, you see from the beginning USB in general was created to be backwards compatible, all the way back to USB 1.1, so you can use a USB 1.1 device on a USB 3.0 machine, and vice-versa, the only difference is if you use a USB 3.0 device on a computer that has USB 2.0, then you will only get USB 2.0 speeds, not 3.0, and subsequently if you use a USB 2.0 device on a computer that has USB 3.0 you will not get any faster than USB 2.0......just a heads up.

soultrane28 wrote:Man, as a long time user of the MPC 3000, I love the concept of the Ren.

I've watched it grow from an unbelievably back-asswords OS to an almost ready for prime time programs.

However, with 1.8, I have to conclude this thing just doesn't work. I guess what nailed it for me was the fact that you can't load more than 15 sequences in song mode on the 1.8 versions, so, then you have to roll it back, and hope your project will work, which of course, it won't, so there's 2 days of work just wasted.

Who makes a piece of music software, who's whole purpose is to make songs out of sequences, that won't let you make songs out of sequences?!?!?

I wish 3000's weren't expensive nowadays, because I really don't have the $$$$ to put out. But this thing is just too frustrating to work with.

How many bars/measures is your sequences?

I Just want to add something about the USB 3 thing you mentioned. I got a less than $6 powered USB 2, 7 port hub that I connect to one of my USB 3 ports, then. I connect mouse, MPC, Keyboard, Midi controller, and such to this.

Not sure if it's the go to workaround, but it works for me, and give ms those extra USB ports anyway.

What an odd thread...some premature rejection business ;)
Hope you're enjoying 1.8.2 now?
