They all sound the same, if I remember correctly.

to the mpc(1000)? It looks like a sturdy machine but I don't see anywhere you can buy parts.

Roland still should have parts for the SX. Not sure about the OG. But people from the SP forums know where to get replacement pots cheaper.

I'm gonna go ahead and ask this even though I have not read the manual.
Trying to record a sequence to a pad. I got a drum loop that I've recorded and assigned it to a pad already and I got some chops I put on the other ones.
What I'm doing is:
Resample>Record>
Pad 12 (my empty pad) >
Pad 6 (my drum loop, loop on the sample modes is set on and gate is set off)
I then start tapping out the other samples over the drum loop while it is recording. At this point the drum loop will stop randomly, could be one bar in sometimes it's 6. But it will still be recording onto pad 12. I can continue playing out my chops or even hit pad 6 again. It will record all of that, but for some reason the loop will randomly stop playing after start hitting the other pads.

This is because the polyphony count when in RESAMPLE mode is TWO STEREO or FOUR MONO samples at a time (or combination up to FOUR total channels at once).
Just a quick suggestion but you should put your drum loop(s) on GATE that way you can let go of the pad to "mute" them. Slightly easier than a looping single-shot (to me). You probably already know!
EDIT: The sequencer does not have the same polyphony limitation though. You can get pretty funky with the sequencer too.

What's most people's process when they want to make beats stand alone on this thing? I feel like there's so many work arounds that the manual is more of a loose guideline.

Trying to record from my MP into a 404Sx. What am I doing wrong here?
404 line in ports to dual RCA cables->
RCA cables to RCA to 1/4 stereo adapters->
Stereo adapters to MPC stereo out ports.

Press the EXT SOURCE button on the SP. That will monitor the input. From there, you can press REC, where it will have you adjust your recording gain using CTRL 3. Then select an empty pad to record to. The rest is in the manual.

PS- Congrats on buying the SX. It's one of the best tools to have with the MPC. It's a lot of fun on it's own as well.

Still nothing. It's weird, I got no problem recording to a pad from my IPod, but as soon as I hook it up to the MP all I get is snow.
