TO the MPC/ASR10 users?

I wanted to throw a keyboard in the mix of things and it seems like midi is the easiest way, I normally sample from the keyboard because I hate dealing with midi but I was trying set everything up and I'm getting all type of sounds I don't want from the keyboard. How do I setup the Channels with the ASR&MPC? I would any advice. Thanks.
