Hi, I have jjos2xl for my mpc1k, I hear it can be a stand alone synth,is that true? I downloaded some adventure kid waveform synth thing(sry,I'm not sure of the proper name) thinking it would do the trick. We'll I load it and it comes up as a program like it would work, but no sound comes out... I am a quadriplegic w very limited hand movement so if the mpc could be a synth, that'd b perfect... Can you guys please help me out? Any comment is appreciated.

Also, I wanna slow a sample down, even play it backwards... I know there's prob something on it on this site, but ic nt find anything.

One more thing, where's a great place to find samples, sounds, ideally synth sounds, that's in a compact flash card I could buy. I'm broke but I love music so.....

Thanks guys,
Stef

Hi Stef,

You can typically map a sample across multiple pads and tune each pad differently -- the MPC 1000 is a bit limited for this kind of thing, but it can do stuff that's not bad so long as you're prepared to mess with the settings a bit.

As for samples... I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be happy to record a load of synth sounds from my modular and send you a CF card, if you let me know how to get it to you. (For anyone else wanting a copy I could send out a Dropbox link or something).

You take any sample, go trim mode, loop it there until you hear nasty sounds like broken TV/ radio.. in program menu you have to set pads to NOTE ON, now use Low pass filter and ADSR. For this task over 200kb files I consider BIG files. To make a synth you don't need more than 50-100kb of raw sample - and it can last long as you want with "loop" - sustain loop.

There is an option in either the program or trim menus to reverse a sample. I'm at work so i can't look for the buttons on my mpc right now, but they should be easy to find.

Maybe these sounds 8 bit needs to be resaved as 44khz , 16 bit with a batchprocessor (Wave editor) program to be usable with the mpc.

These waves are really small , so you probably have to put them on loop to hear something.

I saw on the site that there is other format packages (already processed).
