Hey all!!! First time poster here and a newbie to MPC 5000. I have been using sequencer gear for 15 years, but this model is something new to me since deciding the Maschine Studio just wasn't for me. I do not like the idea of being tied to a computer.

Using Mac computers (MacBook Pro 2014 and an Mac mini 2011), and MPC 5000 Connected via USB cable

Here is my issue, I hope I can get some help on the subject!!!

I was thrilled when it showed up...started using it and everything seemed to be working fine. I transferred over some samples packages I bought off of ebay to the hard drive in the unit (750 gig HD) with what seemed to be no issues at all. Now, however, when I am trying to transfer files from my computer to the hard disk on the MPC5000 the transfer rate is SLOW all of a sudden. I mean beyond ridiculously slow. For example, a small 20Mb file is telling me it would be over 2 hours to complete. Less than 1Mb/s!!!

I am just curious if you know anything about this or if you can offer any insight as to what may be causing the slow transfer rates. I have tried three different computers, all usb ports, and different cables. Just frustrating since when I first tried it out it seemed to work fine. I am not expecting lightning speed, but that works out to be less than 1 MB/s...thats just insane. Any suggestions or way to test if it is the hard drive? What do you think the issue could be?

(I also tried reformating the hard drive itself and it still didn't do anything).

Thanks for any help that can be directed my way!!!

How did you transfer the samples you bought off ebay, via CDROM drive?

Just trying to narrow down if it's a USB transfer thing or something else.

Do you have a CF card to try and transfer to? Then we would know if it's

USB related or not.

My MPC 2500 has yet to transfer faster than 1MB/sec over USB. LOL

The 5000 is famously slow for USB transfers to the internal drive. You're not going to get computer speeds as there's too many bottlenecks. What you are experiencing is more likley normal (I don't think I've ever transferred anywhere near that many samples to the 5000).
