Hi I have looked at the web for a couple days about if my mpc 2kxl will be compatible with Macbook pro studio programs and I can't seem to find anything. The holidays are coming and I think I want a MacBook Pro even for recording because I really want to start producing my own music with my mpc 2kxl right now all I have is the mpc and my stereo and speakers and I got a aux input so I can record samples with aux but I want to use it as a midi controller eventually with my MacBook. Is this possible? I heard a lot of the programs such as logic or pro tools doesn't work with the mpc 2kxl somehow. If anyone knows anything about this or has any advice for what I should get to sample whether it be a technics and go vinyl, iam open for options but iam new so I don't really know a lot. Thanks for your help and support

Buy an M-Audio Uno USB MIDI cable and you'll be able to use your MPC as a controller on your DAW. You can also use that cable to sync and record your MPC in to yoir DAW. But you'll need an audio interface.

Ok, that's what I was thinking. But have you tryed this from experience cause I read some forum this dude was having trouble with the pads actually activating with his daw. In this case and probably mine it was logic. But I think it also dident work for pro tools. If you have tryed this and got it working than I believe it. Thanks man I appreciate any help.

Hey distorted, I also noticed you posted on the reccomended card reader forum, I was also wondering if you know a good card reader for my mpc 2KXL. I'm still stuck with this floppy drive and I don't even have any floppys other than a standard set drums so I can't save anything. This has stopped me from wanting to spend time on my mpc cause I feel like is pointless haha. Thanks man I appreciate it.

The MIDI note numbers of each pad on the MPC need to be assigned properly to the instrument you use in Logic or any other DAW. MPC-Tutor has specific tutorials written for Reason, Logic, and possibly other DAWs on this site.

As far as card readers are concerned, I'm not sure which one is best for the MPC2000XL since I own an MPC2000 classic. The last few pages of that topic should give you more info.
