Yesterday I've tried sampling the hardware inputs in DAW mode. It didn't work, no matter what I tried to do. So I taught it was broken.
But just to be sure I tried it in stand alone mode. and it worked just fine.
So my conclusion is you can't sample from the hardware inputs while in DAW mode. You can however resample internal sounds while in DAW mode.

When sampling in plugin mode your MPC (when set to external record) will record the audio that is coming onto that track whether it be a wave file playing on the track or an audio signal coming thru the inputs of that track.
MPC X, Apollo, Maschine , Advance 61, Omnispere 2, Trilian, Keystation, Serato sample, komplete 10, Fabfilter plugins, Kore 2.

Nice.. I didn't know that.. I'll try that next time..
