Guys,
Helping a homie fix his XL. He was complaining about random crashes, so I ran some checks and found that there were only 4 working pads. Replaced the pads, upgraded the floppy to a CF reader, everything looks good.
Testing audio now, and found the inputs are toast. Whenever any level of signal hits the input gain stage, the rec level hits about 70% and the sound is all distorted and noisy. The MPCs gain knob does nothing and when I increase the output of my DJ mixer, no change in amplitude occurs.
I am going to be loading some samples onto the card in the next day or so to test the output stage and isolate the problem. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and if so, what was done to remedy?
I have the service manual and will likely end up pulling the board to check for cold solder joints, etc. Just looking to see if anyone has some good solid experience based advice they can throw out there before I go to town.
I'm doing this as a Christmas solid for a homie from around the way, so I'm not making any loot and you'd really be helping to get him going in on the beats again. Thanks in advance for any help!
