What Headphone do you use to Mix?

Been looking in to headphone amps all day and i'm baffled . . . I didnt realise the game was so deep!

If you have a good bit to spend maybe check out the SLP Phonitor range which have come very highly recommended on numerous occasions.

I think they are a fair bit more than I really want to be paying......I'm thinking of going as low as sensibly possible (less than a ton).....but also I dont want to have a £150 pair of headphones sounding like krap because I went in too tight on the amp....

really I just want to boost up these AKG701's to be a bit louder and a bassier.....they are currently very light on the low-end......a beat might sound crisp on the phones....but then i switch back to speaker and the bass is smothering everything....

I use Aiaiai TMA 2...I know there not high end ($200) but they are great quality

I actually use hte AKAI MPC Headphones to compare my mixes to what they sound on my monitor speakers (KRK Rokit 6", 2nd Gen.). What can I say: These headphones are great! Don` t be fooled by the "Beats By Dre Style"-design. These are really reliabale ones

Stereo imaging is really good, FX are presented very well (e.g. reverb, delay) so you can check if the FX-amount is chosen well. Bass is punchy and tight but not overdone by AKAI. I used The AKG 271 MKII fo recording and checking my mixes for ago. These are good phones, too but they sound very boring, so that recording and checking yoour mixes is no fun with them.

With the MPC headphones I am really happy when making my beats at times where I have no oppertunity to listen to my music loud, for example when my girlfriend is in the room or it is late at night. For the price you can` t go wrong with these headphones. Built like a tank (the weight doesn` t bother me at all) and a detachable cable which can be replaced when it` s broken

Audio Technica Headphones like the ATH-M50x seem to be very good in that price range, too. I can` t give you a feedback on those though, cause I never used a pair of these.

spot on......there is little point in having fun doing it, if you are going to play it back on another system and it sounds like sh!t..
