Merging 2 samples

Remember the "insert sound at section start" function on the 2KXL? Is this possible in the MPC software? I'm probably missing something simple in my search terms or something, but the manual is leaving me hung out to dry here. Getting a little frustrated with this drum sample I have and I really just want the ability to merge the 2 samples I have into one. Any help is appreciated.

Don't think you can do that in sample edit, it's still fairly crude, hoping they remember to do something about the editor in 2.0.

Workaround could be to assign sample 1 to a pad, then assign the other sample to layer 2 and set one to a negative offset so it plays slightly delayed. Or use simultaneous play in a similar way, but this time you can apply different amp envelopes to each sample when merging.

Or just open up an bog standard audio editor and merge them together in seconds

Damn I didn't think they would leave some of the basic editing capabilities that were in previous MPs out.

As many times as the software has blown me away with its forward thinking there's always some weird little nonsense piece of the puzzle the left out.

Off to ableton I guess. I keep finding myself bouncing between the MPC and Ableton or working in the Octatrack so much that I'm starting to seriously look at the push as my pad based sampler/sequence controller.

I think we often make things difficult, simply do it in your daw and export it or record it into your MPC. It would be a lot quicker doing it this way and this is not a feature that you're going to use every single time you use the MPC.
