having 120gb and having nightmares with aksys, i decided i need to have access to my ssd rather then mounting it internally i wantted to be able to copy paste back stuff up without aksys.

StarTech.com 5.25in Trayless Hot Swap Mobile Rack for 3.5in Hard Drive

took me a while to try adn fit it, one side i use a metal 2.5/3.5 vracket the other side i had to zip tie.

used the same ide/sata connecter

now that was working good,

how to get a 2.5 drive to fit in a 3.5 drive.

used a adapter.

Icybox IB-2535StS

I will try to assemble the 9 pieces left in hand because I have some people asking to buy it
If there's more demand I will ask to my PCB manufacturer to assemble more panels.

I think the best to contact me if you are interested is to send a request from my website:
http://www.harpelaser.com/hl-contact.php
and explaining you want a led kit for MPC4000 in the "message" area.
put "0" in the case at the bottom of the form before to send it.
it will be easier for me because I will have all the informations about you (mail, address etc...)

But you can replace the smd trimmer by a wired one on the lcd case if you want.

Would this be a big operation hour/cost wise? Can the existing dimmer knob on the 4000 be used to adjust the light?

i highly doubt you could re-purpose that knob as that knob is for contrast you adjust that depending on your viewing angle, and thats on its own ciruit board....

Yes, sorry i was busy.
The Best is to keep the contrast and add another one for the brightness.
And if you want to use it you must set the contrast with a fixed resistor
