im glad u took the time out to check my soundcloud and got something out of it; good for u, but it is kind of pathetic that due to someone expressing an opinion u feel driven to attack them, obviously u are overly emotionally attached to the NI Jam.

its also very pathetic that u are attempting to justify ur position by name checking successful producers; but what saint joe did is what he did salute to him, but that has nothing to do with u, nor does it have anything to do with my OPINION on bright colored pads on the Jam and any other device.

So again the Jam looks toyish imo as; does maschine studio and mk2, as does the advanced keyboard and the apc series. (but the design of mk2, and push2 somewhat alleviates that perception unfortunately Jam does not have that)

Now u seem somewhat mentally challenged because u keep talking about what the Jam can do; but I have no issue with its feature-set, I just dont like the brightly colored pads period.

Logic should tell u that u cant rebut my aesthetic opinion with functional discussions because they are different assessment categories.

anyway u sound childish and overly defensive.

I'd rather have my gear look like hospital equipment than playschool toys....


That's what I meant, too, when I mentioned the candyraver style.
I love to look of old Akais. I think MPC 60 II is one of the best-looking devices out there.

I agree.....which is why I think the Renaissance is a happy compromise. It still looks like an MPC...where as all the other garish machines on the market are going in the completely the wrong direction for me...

Yeah, there's something about older gear looking like, well, not toys. A lot of the new stuff does look more toyish. Old MPCs, the SPs...they look like serious machines. And that's what they were (are). Old design, imho, is way classier and more timeless than anything that gets put out today.

Funny or not, I realized at some point that color almost has an effect on how I feel when creating music with those devices. I do have Push 2, too, and I love it and create a lot of electronic music with it, and even though there is not one rational reason why I can't do hip hop with it, I rarely do. Go figure. It's more emotional, I suppose, and I guess emotions do have a part in music.
I guess *to me* using something colorful does not equal hip hop or something.

I think the MPC 60 looks better than the 60 II and the mpc3000 black is also one of the better devices.

I think the mpc studio black looks good also

big colourful flashing lights are naturally going to affect the way you feel when making music....

I think a sampler should resemble something of a blank canvas really.......pretty neutral......

if you are trying to make a dark and moody piece of music it would be against your interests to have a rainbow of colours smashing you in the chevy chase....

exactly; when I had the maschine mk2; found the intensity of light overly distracting, and there was no option to dim the lights, so I ended up just setting the pads to just one colour.

but even when doing this I found the unit was still to bright to use in low lights.

cool dats ur opinion, but I think that particular 2500 looks ugly imo, but it does not look like a toy.
but I gotta say Im glad akai are moving away from the 80's lcd.

I have to agree. I loved my standard black MPC2500

Its definitely all about preference. There's no functionality debate here Just cosmetics and I can understand both pov's. For me its that Ren\Touch type of under lit pads that is perfect for me and my workflow and my sanity :lol: . Live performance really benefit from fully lit pads for many different reasons...IT IS DOPE, just not for me. Im not the one for a lot of flashing lights while I'm working. I have to admit it is very dope for show off purposes as well.

I dont even like the idea of fully back lit lights for live; I think the lights on the edges is good enuff
