New Sub Forum - How Do We Split This?

No rush... I would wait because in time it will be clear what needs to be done.

may I suggest these sections:

• MPC Software 1.97 (and down)
  
• MPC Software 2.0 (and up)
  
• MPC 'X' and 'Live'
  
• MPC REN, Touch, Studio

How about a section named MPC Live and MPCX (Standalone)

My 2 cents....

- Legacy: software pre 2.0 and hardware pre Ren/Studio

- 2.0+ Software + MIDI Controllers: Includes Ren/Studio/Touch. Possibly some Live/X crossover when being used as MIDI controller.

- Standalone: Live/X in standalone mode very little computer based talk.

There is always gonna end up with some crossover posts the main ones being Live/X as controllers for the software and issues around importing from standalone to computer based but that is a nice split.

The question should be: How will this new sub-forum arrangement help the end-user the most?

If I were to post a help question on the new hardware, I would want to post it in a place where it would be seen by the maximum number of people that could possibly help me.

On the flip side, if I were to post a help question on the controller hardware, I don't want my post to get drowned out by the non-stop deluge of posts on the new hardware.

I would separate by hardware. It would cancel out a lot of noise for the end-user seeking help. Help questions on software could be answered by either sub-forum.

I think the Ren, Studio and Touch forum should be left alone but just make a new MPC-X/Live forum.

i think one for the computer software including versione before 2.0... all controller types including the new standalone units... this section if for the computer software only.

another section for the live and X for it's standalone software/OS only.. no talk about the computer software here....

and maybe a 3rd section for hardware issues in the entire range from the ren up to the latest that uses the current akai mpc software.

I'd probably prefer a single subforum for all of them. I understand a separation to be useful, but last but not least I agree with various others that they all run the same software. I'd suggest rather make an "announcement" for hardware like you did with "Software suggestions and feedback", Tutor.

It should be named MPC Software.They 're all Software 2.0 compatible and either way none of the new gen users will be interested in gen one controller issues or vice versa I guess.

This is rather late, but:

Wouldn't it be wise to change the logo of the MPCX/Live/Touch... subforum? Instead of a stretched picture of the X the quite handy logo of MPC Software could be used for it. This might underline the software-ish approach to all of this while not excluding standalone versions, since they (apparently) still support the software on a regular computer.

I admit, the logo you chose, Tutor, is acceptable indeed. But I'd suggest putting more emphasis on the "new era approach" to the MPC and enforcing its attunement to the modern production environment than on a certain piece of hardware, while ALL aforementioned devices make use of the MPC Software itself?

Yes, I know this might be the cause for more discussion (which might be futile), but more in line with what Akai suggests?

Sorry to cook this up to everyone who thought this thread dead. Just trying to improve a thriving community and great information database...

at the minute everything needs to be thrown on one heap because no one owns an X, Live or 2.0.....
