trying to get this straight,

lets say i bounce down a synth track from plugin mode, couldnt i simply assign this to a drum programe to get around the 8 stereo track limit in linear mode and set it to one shot?

also when you sample in in linear mode with time stretch etc, can you chop that file and make it a drum programme so you can trigger however you want, and can you freeze/press your time stretch settings to it as a new file?

This is exactly the kind of workflow I'm getting the X for..

1) Bounce vst track

2) Load it into standalone mode

3) chop it to a program

4) resume your work..

Not sure the 2.0 workflow but once you bounce down a vst track to an audio track you can transfer it over to standalone and do whatever from resampling, chopping, make a new song etc., same for timestretched files or in this case, warped samples.

Yeah that'd work in a lot of cases but if you're triggering the synth track sample from a drum program, if you press play from the middle of the song or part way through a section etc, the audio track won't play as it hasn't been triggered by midi. Whereas I'm guessing with legit audio tracks you can press play anywhere in a song timeline and the audio track will play from its current position at that point. Obvs you could chop it etc in to sections. Easiest thing to do a lot of the time will maybe just be bouncing tracks in groups to one track if 8 isn't enough..

This is exactly the reason why I'm going to chop them up to a maximum of 2 bars in length. For me it ain't no big deal. I will preserve the audio tracks for bounced vocal stems.

Anyone seen the SSD hybrids 2.5 for extra storage for the X and Live? I've seen this:
"1TB Seagate SATA 2.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD) 6Gbps 7200rpm 64MB cache".

For $62.98. I wonder if they are good. Seems the reviews sre good.

I think it was wonderful that Akai gave us so much storage options. Im big on that. No more scsi :Sigh:
Im stuck with one from when l had the 2000XL.

i can't wait for user videos to start popping up on youtube of the new MPC's. I watched all of the NAMM videos but I'd really like to see something different than clip launching and listening to how responsive and great the touch screen is.

I just sold my 2500 so I am ready for a new toy. Still undecided though.

As I've said, I haven't decided yet. I'd really like to get the X but as of now, I can't justify spending that much on it. MPC Live seems like a lot better deal for what it costs.

User videos will hopefully help me decide :D

I've been looking at the X, seems fully featured. Question though, if I was mostly interested in recording my own loops and using the pads to trigger/launch them, and use the time stretch function to get some random loops I've captured over the years to loop in time together, couldn't I just get the MPC Studio Black to work with the new 2.0 software? With my preset setup, ive got an interface with 8 ins and Outs.

I'm wondering if just getting the Studio and using the Akai DAW software would pretty much be all I really needed, Plus the Studio looks like it would make a nice control surface for the software.
Other than Stand Alone capabilities, what would I be sacrificing by getting the Studio? I'm not interested in a touch screen, plus I'd rather the DAW monitor to do my chops.
