Or a bloody ride...

I hope the X and Live end up with their own sub-forum so we can split up those who just want a new standalone (me, Danoc, Ill Green etc), and those mainly invested in the software.

Add me to the standalone list.

Announce it, say it's in shops ---> death of Akai.

"Killer" is the operative word, Fanu. Pioneer dropped one a few months ago, but I don't see that dissuading people from jonesing the Akai product. Because MPC is the daddy of em all.

Thing about the Toraiz SP16 its compared to an MPC and people desire more from it. The MPC setted the standard and the Toraiz in all its hardware glory cannot compete. The system's engine is like a moped compared to MPC's freight-train. No comp at all.

NI and Roland are the only ones to go beyond an MPC and maybe raise the standards. We'll see though.

And yes Coz, I will be using these standalone all day  Been a while since we all been on an MPC :smoker:

i would love for roland to drop the acb and for ni to drop something new right now that would expedite akai's plans to get this to market.

right now they complacent knowing there is no real viable alternative to what they are offering

Judging from the video it looks like 2.0 software doesn't communicate with the hardware's 2.0.

Like how the MPC Touch's screen reflects the computer screen, here I don't see the hardware reflect the computer. Its like both run independently of themselves.

That could be the hold-up.

I am personally interested more in the X and I find it really concerning that he chooses to showcase only the Live in most videos. Even during NAMM the X had a lot less air time than the Live.

It's very strange not to showcase your flagship model. It's either not ready yet, both hardware and software wise or there's something wrong with it, I don't know. That probably means that it will be released a lot later though.

Fanu wrote:why is it always shops and not Akai releasing these videos…some monetary reasons?
Shops paying Akai for a video to get preorders?

Yeah, probably. They probably shook hands at NAMM since their booth was only available to companies/shops and not to the general public.

Look at how Ableton and NI are promoting their hardware. Look at how professional and inspiring their videos are. Both their tutorials and artist videos. Now compare that to Akai's videos. Cheap, boring, lifeless.

It's really strange how the screen seems laggy in the XY menu :

edit : this is in controller mode. For the moment, their screen ultra responsive argument has been demonstrated only in standalone. Hope the controller mode will have the same responsivity.
