What's up.

I am in a bit of a dilemma.
I have one ilok key. Im tried of taking it out of one computer and putting it into the computer. Some times l may forget also.

Does anyone know if l can have two ilok keys with the 2.0 licenses on both an keep one key in each computer? This way l don't have to keep pulling my main one out.

Thanks

To add to what tutor said…you can only have one iLok key active at a time.
I know; it is a pain. I'm juggling one key between two computers daily as well (Slate Digital plugins being one reason).
I'd pay to get out of that, but can't.

Ok l understand what you're doing. Let me ask you this.

Being my desktop is not online l can keep the ilok key in that one.

Now can l put the ilok stuff on my laptop being that computer goes on line? So l won't have to worry about an ilok key for that one. Am l allowed to di that?

Thanks.

MPC-Tutor wrote:Just download and use the software iLok app, you don't have to use the hardware iLok at all. I just use the software iLok on both my computers.

Bet that sounds promising. I will try it and get back to ya thanks.

Ok, I found out that I have to have my MPC Live software's on my laptop and can't save them on the iLok key simultaneously. So basically I will be working with the Live machine along with the 2.0 software on my laptop. which I am good with. I wish there was a way to keep licenses on the laptop and the iLok key. That would of been nice, but... It's not happening.

So now I find myself in a bigger dilemma because I wanted to be able to open, say, Hybrid 3 in Reason 9.5 on my main computer which is my desk top. Now I would have to produce on the laptop, man this is bananas. Iam going back to the key and just have to pull out the key whenever I use it. I probably will get the iLok 3 which is smaller than the blue first iLok I have which is long and could get broken if I make the wrong move. I can enjoy all the sounds from the Air Instruments in Reason and effects giving me another arsenal of sounds and I am really happy with that, so I will solve that problem by ordering another iLok key today.

Now yall, see why I hate freakin iLok keys. and I can't buy another one and put the licenses on that either and have two iLoks with the same licenses on them.

So there you have it, you can only have your licenses on one source be it the computer or the iLok key, your licenses can't be on multiple sources.

Peace

Akai should have built the iLok tech into the hardware. It's a big fat dongle connected to the PC. Users of software only 2.0 could use the regular software or usb dongle and Live and X owners should not have had to worry about it with the machines connected to whichever computer they wanted. As long as the hardware is connected it should have just worked to authenticate legitimate use.

Missed opportunity there to make it easy for the people shelling out big bucks for Live and X. Too bad.

Hey brah! You CAN have a license on both a computer and an ilok key.
E.g., I used to have a licensed mpc 2.0 on my imac and my old laptop.
Used the ilok key on the former, and a license on the computer on the latter.

I just got a new laptop and havent activated the mpc license on it yet, but i will.

Let me copy+paste what i got from ilok support when 2.0 came out:

"Thank you for reaching out to us. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you!

I have included some information below that I think will be helpful:

iLok allows you to authorize your software on up to 2 computers and/or iLoks. These authorizations can be moved around if needed.

Below I've linked an article about iLok license management. This will walk you through everything you need to properly manage your software licenses.

not working for me every time I try to "Activate" to my laptop it deactivates from my iLok and the only one that did it correctly was Xpand. I have done all of them. I'm going to leave this alone before something happens and just use the the iLok. The instructions is for deactivation basically.
