How long have you been procucing music? I've been at it for about 14 years. Just got my first MPC 2000 XL and figured it out pretty fast. I only used an SP1200 for all my production, and found the MPC to do almost everything the SP did but more. I still love the sound of the SP more than the MPC. My advice is just stick to it. Rome wasn't built in a day, so take your time get to know your own style. Stay away from trying to sound like everyone else out there.

Good luck

That past about your beats being as good as your samples ting is not actuallty correct.

I have had some real pants breaks and cut them up real nice and made some good stuff... anyway

TIME!!!!! perfect practice that will make you into what you need to be...

I was in the same boat as you mate! I'm a rapper first producer second.
I was like hmm I might as well make riddems as well, as write.
so I started looping on cool edit all my fav soul tracks and hip hop tracks no beats just samples and rapping over them, then I met a mpc2000 and saw how it was really done! then I got one (2000XL), and have been figuring it out ever since! I still learning new stuff about it. its kinda like life!
it teaches you new things al the time!
