This is a strange situation to be in but currently I don't have any splitters so I'm restricted to one cable for now.

So, if my sample was stereo but I have a single cable from the device playing the sample into my MPC's L input with mono selected in sampling mode, is there any to have it all come through in mono? Currently it only samples it from the left as you'd expect from it thus coming in distorted, but I read on some websites that MPCs normally allow all of it to come through as mono through L input.

Summary: is there a way to sample full audio with a single cable, or would I have to separately record L and R then merge?

Thanks. This is in standalone by the way.

When you sample, lets say a microphone, which is a single cable, into the L input; the MPC records it as mono and should occupy both L and R Out channels of the MPC.

You suppose to assign the inputs to sample in the L input. Without assigning it, it'll be in stereo and sounding out only through the L output.

So what I just tried is hooking it all up again, my audio source connected to the L in and the sound comes through in Input 1 and Input 1,2, but still muffled. The vocals are extremely faint.

Did you mean assigning inputs on the LIVE or is it on my audio source's part?

When you go into the sample page on the MPC Live, there is an option to select how will it sample. It should say L Mono if I recall. Thats the option to use for mics and instruments or just a single lone cable.

But tell me your whole connection chain and whatnot. Is it Mic>MPC>Interface? And what mic you using.
